Canyon Cove Beach Nasugbu ~ Fun! Fun! Fun!

My family enjoys barefeet strolls along warm fine beach sand.  We can spend hours just gazing on the beach and people walking by.

... And did just that when during our Canyon Cove overnight!

Water was warm and inviting...

My boys came prepared and brought their beach toys with them.

Play time!

Loving the sunset!

Beach Bumming at Canyon Cove Nasugbu Batangas

Three hours away from Manila and just about an hour away from Tagaytay is Nasugbu Batangas.

I got a weekend deal from a group buying site and ended up 110kms South of Manila in Canyon Cove Residential Beach Resort,

The drive to Nasugbu was a breeze... all thanks to the C6 shortcut via Taytay out Bicutan (also saved us a couple of bucks on toll fees).

The resort lobby was flooded with guests. It was understandable that it would take the receptionist another hour to get everyone settled in.

We were led to a 2nd floor superior room with 2 twin size bed and a bay bed (spacious enough for 5 adults).
It took my kids just seconds to warm up to the beds.  The room is quite comfortable ~ I could just stay here for the rest of the day and sleep inside this well-airconditioned room.

The room opens to a balcony with a view of the beach below.  We just love, how, the rooms are situated and with direct access to the water excitement below.

Our view of the beach (unfortunately blocked the trees outside).  I think a 3rd floor room would have a better view.

The resort has play ground.
My youngest played a while, but I had to cut short the fun, as it was scorching hot outside.

The pool comes as a good alternative to those who hate the feel of sand on their face. There were a lot swimming, but the pool was so huge, the volume of people dwarfed in size.
Water is clean and warm, just perfect for the kiddos.

Nothing beats the beach for these boys though.

We so love sunsets in the Philippines!  Very romantic...

Canyon Cove Residential Resort is just perfect for family get-aways.

If not for the poor food options, would have easily given this place a 5 out of 5.  Food was real bad ~ our office cafeteria food tastes better at 1/4 the cost we paid for.

For better meal options, I suggest a 5-10 minutes drive out the resort to Nasugbu town proper and head to Kainan sa Dalampasigan.

Kainan sa Dalampasigan - Nasugbu Batangas' Best Kept Secret!

Our Nasugbu Batangas road trip led us to Kainan sa Dalampasigan Restaurant.

The great reviews I have read online enticed us to drop by for lunch before heading back to Manila from our overnight escape at Canyon Cove Resort.

The restaurant is about 15 to 20 minutes from Canyon Cove and is quite easy to locate (If you get lost you can ask any locals.  They seem to be quite familiar with the place.)

First thing that struck us is that despite it's name Kainan sa Dalampasigan, we can't seem to find of view of the beach (or maybe we weren't just looking hard enough!).  What they do have, plenty of, are gardens (Maybe they should consider changing their name to Kainan sa Halamanan :P - makes more sense really!)

The place is laid back and the atmosphere very relaxing.  The high ceiling allows the air to move freely - creating a tranquil ambiance.

Welcome to Kainan sa Dalampasigan.

This garden with water falls is located inside the restaurant.

Ingenious center pieces that obviously came from their garden :)

Kainan serves traditional Filipino food.

We ordered sea food sampler, gulaman and halo-halo. We literally devoured the entire bilao - and I thought I over ordered (hahaha!).

Price is also reasonable.

Very delicious!

I was so busy touring the place, I cannot recall how fast service was.

I remembered though, the restaurant's attendants to be very polite and welcoming when we came in.

Kainan sa Dalampasigan is a complete dining experience.
Kainan sa Dalampasigan is located at
Ruiz Martinez St. Brgy. Bucana, Nasugbu, Batangas

San Juan Batangas - November 2009

For my birthday weekend, last November 21, my family (my husband, 2 sons ages 5 and 1, my sister and a yaya) a cousin and his family and an aunt with her newly wed daughter packed a car and an APV and headed for Laiya, San Juan in Batangas!

It was a cool saturday morning with a little drizzle of rain! Which was good since we left Manila at 8am and we were looking forward to a hot mid day travel.

We arrived at Kabayan Beach Resort a little after 12. But since check in was not until 3pm, we were asked to wait in a shed by the beach, while the attendants ready our accommodation. We were staying at Ilang-Ilang (its a 2 br, 1 tb, with porch and kitchen good for 12 pax). The place was right next to the beach, it is not even 15 steps away. At 1pm, the attendants were so nice they allowed for an early check-in. By 1:30, we were all settled in. We brought binagoongan and adobo from Manila and had our fill, before frolicking again by the beach by around 4pm.

My kids were running all over the beach stretch by 5pm. The water was luke warm considering it is November, but since I have kids along I decided to have them out of the water before 6pm.

We are back eating dinner by 630 and then mass at 7pm (Kabayan has a small chapel within the resort and the have an anticipated mass). By 8pm the kids were knocked asleep, while the adults played a game of pusoy dos. To make the game more exciting we would bet 1peso/player (although the bet doubles if the winner ends with a 2). After 5 hours and being 50bucks richer (he,he,he, guess I am good at it) we called it quits!

I could have slept until 9am, if not for my 1 year old, who was up at 4am begging to go out and play in the beach! Duh it was just 4am... I tried to put him back to sleep, but you know these toddlers right? He would fall asleep, but would wake up every after 30mins. Finally at 6am, after convincing myself that my son is not going back to sleep anymore, I decided to give in!

We were out by 630, and I am so happy I did not sleep it off. Because it was such a beautiful sight to behold! The day was perfect and the ocean stood still. I also noticed that the water receeded some 3-4miles back and took with it the peebles and hard sand. What was left was fine sand, so fine I had no qualms in allowing my 1 year old walk barefooted.

The others (my sleeping companions!!) were finally up by 730. We were just sitting by the beach, with the kids running around and enjoying it all. Before, we know it it was finally time to pack up and get ready for a way back to Manila.

Will surely miss Laiya :(
