Camiña Balay nga Bato in Iloilo ~ A Travel Back in Time

Are you looking for an experience, that brings together culture, heritage and authentic Ilonggo cuisine?

Is YES, then do drop by Camiña Balay nga Bato.

A trip to Camiña is like a step back in time (Oh don't worry there is no "mumu").

We were amazed at the well preserved house, built more than 100 years ago .

The good condition of the house and all the antique furniture is wonderful ~ and hard not to admire.

Guided tours are offered at P150/pax inclusive of their special tsokolate (honestly one of the best I have had).

Thick hot tsokolate batirol!

If you are travelling in a group of 5 or more, you may want to try the tour package with tsokolate and pancit molo or take a full lunch. Alas, we had to settle for just the "tsokolate" since it was just me and hubby.  But from the pictures I have seen on their website, food looks delicious.

Camiña Balay nga Bato is located at 20 Osmeña Street and is open Mondays-Sunday 8am  to 6pm.

To go there you can take the jeepney going to Oton and alight near Plaza Arevalo.  For a more convenient transportation, I suggest taking a cab, this would cost you roughly P150 and will take you there faster.

    1. If you are going to Iloilo, a Guimaras sidetrip (at least a day) is a must. It is just 15 minutes by ferry from Iloilo.

    1. Hi Anna, i fell in love with Guimaras. It it a hidden gem waiting to be polished. The beaches are pristine and virgin... Iloilo meanwhile is a charming melt of the old and new.... , oh plus the mangoes are GREAT!!!

  7. That chocolate drink made me crave for something chocolatey. Thanks for sharing a glimpse of Iloilo. I've been there once but for a work trip so I didn't enjoy much.

    1. Hi Macy, thanks for dropping by. The place is awesome. The owners did a good job preserving the place. I bet food is great too. Ilonggos are wonderful cooks, too bad it was only me and hubby, the minimum for a compete lunch/dinner set up is 10 pax.

    1. Hi Sis, it was a nice and educational experience. One other place were we had so much historical appreciation was in our trip to Las Casas in Bataan.
